Our Manitowoc, WI location creates Condensed Natural Smoke, in the Smoke and Grill business unit for Kerry customers and brands. The Manitowoc, WI facility is located along the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. The Plant Lab Technician responsibilities include sampling, testing and inspecting all processes involved in the production of products and the product itself. Responsible for the documentation of inspection and tests conducted on the products. Ensures that quality standards are met by every component of the product and process.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Perform testing and evaluation of finished products. Report results to Production, enter them into the system and maintain full documentations.Collect, test, and log samples of all products being made.Verify that products are correctly identified.

  • Verify HACCP and production records

  • Inspect dry products prior to mixing ingredients and monitor production.

  • Inspect tanks to ensure they are commercially sterile prior to production refilling them with different product and record.

  • Troubleshoot quality problems in production.Calibrate all measuring devices daily.Observe and assure plant Good Manufacturing Practices are followed.Follow all quality, safety, and company protocols & procedures.

  • Facilitate toolbox training sessions.

  • Monitor any corrective actions required for non-conforming product.

  • Determine whether product samples meet specifications.

The person who will find success in this role will demonstrate critical thinking ability to effectively address quality issues as they occur and be willing to engage in a team environment.

  • HS Diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry preferred.

  • 2 years lab experience preferred.

  • Possess basic computer skills – AS400, Microsoft Office, other software.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to perform under pressure.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Dexterity and preciseness required to operate gauges and testing equipment.

  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to work 4 on 4 off schedule @ (12) twelve hours per day requiring consistent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing, pushing and pulling.

  • Ability to climb over, under and/or in equipment accessible via catwalks, manholes and/or extensive ladders.
