Description and Responsibilities
Location: Remote / Home Office Based, by major airport
Mobility: Frequent travel (up to 70%) between sites within the North America region
Reporting to: Senior Director, Project Engineering – North America
End-to-end engineering leadership of capital projects in North America valued between $5 - $100 million, fulfilling business requirements, achieving objectives for scope, time, cost and quality.
Oversee and lead all project phases, from inception to ”business as usual”, including conceptual/basic/detailed design, budget development, project planning/scheduling, reporting, organizing and leading project teams, installation, commissioning/ qualification/verification and financial control
Direct engineering project teams and define resources and capabilities to ensure successful design, execution, installation/construction and start-up within an operating environment, with uncompromising focus on safety and quality.
Analyze and evaluate process designs and ensure compliance with engineering principles and company standards for food processing sanitary design, operational efficiency, health, safety, and environmental sustainability
Provide a platform for engineering project teams to engage and align with operational and business stakeholders in the region
Develop and manage regional Engineering Service Providers and Design/Build partners through Master Service Agreements and periodic analysis of performance, technical capabilities and their impact on the business and project metrics, in conjunction with regional Capex Planning and Procurement teams
Support business case development and alignment of project scoping, design and cost estimates
Lead engineering metric reviews and implementation of standardized project reporting systems
Facilitate Knowledge Management of a central engineering filing system to enable project engineers to share and maintain information on a single platform and in a controlled manner
Inspire a continuous improvement culture across engineering teams, leading best practice replication and application of continuous improvement methodologies to the project management and engineering space
Develop and deploy agile yet standardized manufacturing processes to ensure operations are fully optimized and drive Engineering Excellence
Minimum Bachelors in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Food Science or equivalent engineering degree
8 years’ minimum experience within project engineering, project management and/or construction management
Prefer background in Food/Beverage Manufacturing / Chemicals / Pharma environment
Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Professional Engineering (PE) preferred
Must be comfortable working independently within a decentralized team
Knowledge and capability in processes and tools for project management (MS Project), process engineering (AutoCAD, 3D modeling) and financial control (Excel, SAP)
Skilled with detailed resource and budget management tools/tracking
Demonstrated experience and capability in process engineering, systems integration and facility design
Results oriented and ability to deliver successful outcomes
Ability to work independently across multiple stakeholders, both internal and external
Demonstrated experience in effectively leading and managing engineering project teams, including contract resources
Financial acumen and ability to effective manage project budgets and control costs
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong planning skills, and the ability to follow-up and successfully execute plans
Continuous improvement mindset with high change agility
Ability to develop and deploy a disciplined approach to engineering design and project execution
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
